We’re so excited to announce the official launch of Virtual Adventurer, California State Parks’ new mobile application that takes you on an immersive experience through time, history and the natural world using the latest both augmented and virtual reality. The app allows you to discover and interact with the people, places, and events that have played a role in our state’s rich history. You can learn from California Native Americans who have called this place home since time immemorial, and hear the words of historical figures, like Jack London and Professor William Payne. Deepen your connections with California’s heritage with the Virtual Adventurer app, and you’re bound to experience the State Parks through a newly enriched lens.
Here’s how to use the Virtual Adventurer app:
- If you are on a mobile device, you can download the app here, or you can search “Virtual Adventurer” in your app store.
- Select your park of choice from the map view or list view.
- Download the park’s adventure to use on your upcoming visit. The virtual experiences are large files that are easiest to download on wifi before your trip.
The app is launching with nine featured California State Parks. More are being added regularly, so be sure to check frequently for newly added parks.
