Upcoming Guided Hikes

Explore the wonders of nature in one of California’s 280 state parks. Here are a few upcoming guided hikes, brought to you by California State Park staff:

 

Clementine Dam Hike with Good Day Sacramento

On Friday, November 17, 2023, at 7:00 A.M, head over to Auburn State Park for an exhilarating hike to Clementine Dam. Spanning 4 miles, this hike is graded as easy, suitable for hikers of all skill levels. What makes this hike special is the presence of a camera crew from Good Day Sacramento, who will be capturing the beauty of the surroundings. This hike is in celebration of “National Take a Hike Day,” so make sure not to miss it! The hike leader for this adventure is Cathie Rohlfes (916-667-6906).

Lake Clementine Access Trail

For a moderately challenging hike with breathtaking views, mark your calendar for Friday, December 1, 2023, at 10:00 A.M. The meeting point is the North Fork of the American River Lake Clementine Trail in Auburn State Recreation Area. The trail features a graded road and offers great views of Lake Clementine. Anticipate a moderate pace during the 3.2-mile hike, expected to take around 3 hours. Remember to bring water, snacks, and appropriate clothing for the weather. The hike leader on this trail will be Peggy Egli (530-718-0448).

Celebrating Winter Solstice at Olmstead Loop Trailhead

Welcome the first official day of winter with a rejuvenating hike on Thursday, December 21, 2023, starting at 10:00 A.M. Join fellow nature enthusiasts at the Olmstead Loop Trailhead for a 3-mile hike. Taking place on one of the shortest days of the year, this hike offers a chance to celebrate the winter solstice amidst the beauty of nature. All are welcome, including dogs on leashes and families with wheelchairs or strollers. The hike leader for this special occasion is Joe Shanahan (530-745-2202).
