New video showcases a 21st-century approach to connecting people, communities and public lands
SACRAMENTO — Parks California today announced the launch of Caring for California, Together, a new statewide digital campaign that highlights how people, communities and partners across California are working together to care for the state’s natural and cultural places.
The campaign reflects a simple but powerful idea: California’s public lands are not cared for by any one organization alone, they are shaped and sustained through shared stewardship.
“California’s wild places — its coastlines, redwoods and desert landscapes — depend on our collective care. That work belongs to all of us,” said Fernando Villalba, director of programs for access and belonging at Parks California. “This campaign celebrates the tribal communities, local neighborhoods, partners and advocates who commit themselves to these places because they know what’s at stake. When people come together around something this beautiful, something this important, the results are inspiring.”
As Parks California’s work continues to grow in scale and partnership, the campaign provides a unifying framework to share stories of impact — expanding access to parks, supporting cultural connections and strengthening climate resilience across the state.
Through social media, digital content and partner collaborations, Caring for California, Together invites Californians to share the many ways people connect to and care for California’s natural and cultural places while reinforcing the role of partnership in sustaining these spaces into the future. Parks California has created a digital toolkit with ways to participate in the campaign.
To mark the launch, Parks California released a new campaign video that brings this collective effort to life. The video highlights programs and partnerships across California that are expanding access to public lands, supporting youth and families and building long-term connections to nature and culture.

Video Script
When people think of California, they picture places that take their breath away.
Places that bring us together.
Places that remind us we belong to something bigger.
But these places can’t care for themselves.
They’re cared for by people.
By communities.
By partners working together.
Across California, people are creating experiences and sharing stories that connect us to these lands.
They’re restoring landscapes, building skills, and caring for these places. Now and for the future.
They’re restoring landscapes while building skills and careers in these majestic spaces. caring for these places for the future.
Caring for California isn’t something one group does alone.
It’s something we do together.
This is Caring for California, Together.
Where we share our connection to the places that inspire us.
Because it’s in our nature to care. And to do it together.
