Exploring California's Parks: Free Access Programs

Discover California’s natural beauty through the free park pass programs. Designed to make the state’s cultural, historic, and natural resources accessible to all, these programs simplify park visits and promote outdoor enjoyment.

There are three park pass programs that may be of interest to you, which provide free access to participating state parks for kids and their families.

California State Library Parks Pass: You can check out a free vehicle day-use pass at your local library with your library card and visit over 200 participating state parks.

California State Park Adventure Pass: This pass provides free entry to 54 select, amazing parks for fourth graders and their families (including up to three adults and other kids and friends) in one vehicle.

Golden Bear Pass: If your family receives help from the state program called CalWORKs, you can qualify for a free, year-round park pass to access more than 200 participating state parks and beaches.
